NEW YEAR’S EVE

TIMES SQUARE, NY

Branded Cities Network’s year starts off with one of the biggest parties in the world, the New Year’s Eve celebration in Times Square. With over one million revelers gathered in the Square, and billions watching around the world, all eyes are on BCN’s inventory as the seconds count down to the New Year. BCN’s Nasdaq and Thomson Reuters’ signage stand on either side of the famed ball drop. Our Times Square 7 sign, which receives massive television coverage, is directly in the line of sight of the ball as it descends towards midnight and the brand new year.

QUAKER OATMEAL

TIMES SQUARE, NY

On a very cold day in January, Quaker held a large street event in Times Square to promote their nationwide “Bring Your Best Bowl” oatmeal contest in which a lucky winner would be awarded $250,000 dollars. Flanked by Branded Cities Network’s Nasdaq and Thomson Reuters’ screens with custom creative designed by BCN’s very own in-house team, Quaker successfully drew a large crowd ready to sample and make their “Best Bowl.”

THE BOWL CHAMPIONSHIP SERIES

Glendale, AZ

Being a major sports, dining and entertainment destination in the Phoenix DMA, the Westgate Entertainment District plays host to many major sports events, such as the Super Bowl. This year was no different as Westgate and the University of Phoenix Stadium was the site of the 2016 Bowl Championship Series. Over 75,000 attendees watched Alabama claim the first championship in the college playoff era in a hard-fought win over then undefeated Clemson. Westgate is already gearing up for its next event, the NCAA Final Four Championship taking place in April of 2017.

LINCOLN TUNNEL

New York / New Jersey

In March of 2016, Branded Cities Network completed the conversion of one of the New York DMA’s most iconic signs to digital. Centered on the helix of the inbound and outbound approaches to the NJ-side of the Lincoln Tunnel, this massive digital board, 20’ x 100’, is front and center to one of the most travelled arteries into midtown Manhattan. This fact was confirmed by Geopath when the ratings were released anointing this digital board the highest rated on a per spot basis in the entire NY DMA.

FROM THE WHITE HOUSE

TIMES SQUARE, NY

This year, BCN’s Nasdaq spectacular was able to harness non-partisan messaging in a powerful way. During a live feed for an event in Times Square for the United States Olympic Committee sendoff, First Lady Michelle Obama was a surprise guest to provide words of support for the U.S. Olympians. In announcing the creation of a new National monument at Stonewall, President Obama marked his first approved appearance on an OOH billboard.

HBO BALLERS

TIMES SQUARE, NY

Branded Cities Network took part in a Times Square takeover for Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson’s show “Ballers” on HBO. Anchored by BCN’s TS2 (Nasdaq and Thomson Reuters), the one hour roadblock created a tremendous amount of buzz around the season premiere, with none other than The Rock himself posting the takeover to his popular Instagram feed, generating an additional 920,000 views.

PAINTING BY NUMBERS

LOS ANGELES, CA

In July, BCN resumed the right to sell the advertising on a wallscape located at Hollywood Boulevard and Vine Street. This historic hand-painted wallscape is adjacent to both the Pantages Theatre and Capitol Records building and is only a few short blocks to the world-famous TCL Chinese Theatre. Centered in Hollywood California, south of the Hollywood Hills and in view of its iconic sign, the H&V wall is a major focal point along the Hollywood Walk of Fame and is close to some of the area’s most renowned sites such as Paramount Pictures Studios, the Hollywood Bowl and Chateau Marmont, to name a few.

TRIGGERED CREATIVE

NEW YORK / NEW JERSEY

Over the summer, BCN launched a campaign that provides for the dynamic triggering of creative based on current weather conditions on our Lincoln Tunnel digital spectacular. Developed by BCN’s technology team, this innovation provides advertisers with greater creative freedom in delivering tailored and relevant content to consumers traveling past BCN’s digital signs. Additional triggers are currently being built and rolled out to BCN’s digital signs nationwide.

MEGA SELFIES

TIMES SQUARE, NY

On a Friday afternoon in late August, hundreds of individuals were able to have their pictures placed on BCN’s Nasdaq and Thomson Reuters screens in a promotion for the United States Tennis Association. Over the course of two hours, 210 people had their pictures taken by a street team in Times Square. These photos were then customized by a creative team located at BCN’s New York office and then quickly delivered to the screens for all to see. The USTA’s program generated significant interest on the street for the upcoming U.S. Open and received national news coverage as a feature story in the New York Times.

AUGUST 2016

3D EMBELLISHMENTS

DENVER, CO

In a summer long program designed to bring attention to the dangers of driving without a seatbelt and drugged driving, the Colorado Department of Transportation (CDOT), paired powerful 3D embellishments with BCN’s high impact locations in downtown Denver to promote safe driving. From an inflated airbag to a crumpled car in the shape of a joint, CDOT’s campaign generated significant impressions through the news media and social media.

In October, noosa yoghurt brought a wonderful 3D embellishment to the streets of downtown Denver. Over 3,250 noosa yoghurt lids were used in the creation of this 3D spectacular, with messaging highlighting the yoghurt’s local Colorado ingredients.

NEW MARKET ANNOUNCEMENT

PHILADELPHIA

COMING EARLY 2017

PHILADELPHIA, PA

In September, BCN announced the exclusive agreement to represent the advertising at the East Market development in Center City Philadelphia. Marketed as The East Market Collection, four large format digital signs, measuring over 5,000 square feet in total, will provide a major street level presence for advertisers. Expected to roll out in 2017, the signs will be sold as a synced network, capable of advanced out-of-home programming, including triggered and dynamic creative, interactive programs and advanced media metrics.
